Judge Roy Hofheinz, who dreamed up the Astrodome, was quite open about how the inspiration
came to him one day when he was standing in the Colisseum in Rome and the guide was
explaining how the Romans even had a cloth roof to protect the lions, martyrs, spectators,
and emperors from the noonday sun.
