If you watch enough TV, or read enough issues of Wired Magazine, you can only conclude that life is good and, thanks to technology and pharmaceuticals, it's going to get better and better.

In our far-flung browsings of the Internet, we continue to find evidence that this is not the case. We would in fact argue that, taken as a group, the 42 photographs we offer here for your consideration indicate that not only is the human condition shaky, it is getting shakier by the moment.
