45. Pratfalls
I. $24
In 1492
Columbus sailed the ocean blue.
When land he spied, he cried:
This must be India, so
these savages are Indians, no?
In 1753
Emmanuel broke from the body free.
When land he spied, he cried:
This must be heaven, so
these wispy things are spirits, no?
The moral of these stories two:
When humans go exploring, you
become what best befits
their dream. Beware their tinsel gifts.
II. Myopia
In 4004
B.C. we woke, looked up, saw stars galore.
"There must be more!" we cried.
How we did shiver and curse,
to name this tiny room the universe.
The moral of this story one:
No tale is properly done
indoors with windows locked,
eyes closed, and clear thought hocked.
