Out of all the sense and nonsense surrounding the Y2K problem, we've come up with a socially useful gimmick. We've extracted a signal from all the noise, so to speak.

The seed of our idea came from a letter to the editor in the paper not long ago. The writer suggested we think of the "K" as being short for "kindness," and every time we saw a reference to Y2K, he wanted us to use it as a reminder to go out of our way and do an act of kindness (small or large) which we otherwise would not have done.

Squishy? Yep. Sappy? Yep. Simplistic? Yep. Shades of Boy Scouts doing good deeds for the day? Yep. Pollyanna? Yep? Worth a try? Yep.

We set our art department to work and after a bit of graphics brainstorming, they came up with a 1) simple and 2) sappy little design (see above).

At the top of the page is a banner, which you're welcome to download and use as you will--on your own web page, on your letterhead, wherever.

Here is the same design reduced to faint grays, which, again, you are welcome to filch and put to any use you desire. Web page background? Watermark?

We even went to the trouble of making a small animated gif, which you are also welcome to:
