9. Silence Lifted Me

  1.
I was sinking deep in tales, far from the distant light,
Lost in clever words and wails, sinking in tale-tellers’ night.
But I hushed the chattering mind, patience became a friend.
I learned in quiet to find the void, to see at last an end.

  Refrain:
Silence lifted me, silence lifted me.
  When nothing else could help,
  Silence lifted me.
Silence lifted me, silence lifted me.
  When nothing else could help,
  Silence lifted me.

  2.
All along with color and shape, swirling, seducing me,
Open, lost in endless rape, busy but never free,
Mind a hopeless tangle of words, thinking the same
  old thoughts,
Wild, I sought the wisdom of trees, when greed came
  to nought.

  Refrain.
