    Lead on, O light eternal,
    till pride’s fierce greed shall cease,
    desire a distant echo
    of the sweet amen of peace.
    For not with swords’ loud clashing,
    Nor roll of stirring drums:
    With deeds of love and mercy
    The heavenly kingdom comes.
