Old Adam’s eyes search my face, looking for signs I’ll keep running his race.
Old Adam’s eyes squint and peer, brimful of hate, turning hope into fear.
Old Adam’s hands, stiff with pain, scarring himself, killing Eve once again.
Old Adam’s arms shun my embrace, fearing to touch except with gun and mace.
Chorus 1:
Old Adam’s eyes, afraid of whys, Old Adam’s skies, filled with Cain’s cries,
Old Adam’s sons, Abel and Cain, heirs to his dark heart, find pleasure in pain.
Old Adam’s sons, me and you, can we stop now and change blood red to sky blue?
Old Adam’s lips, thin with rage, call death life. Is that the wisdom of age?
Old Adam’s mind, numb with fear, bombs women and children, and calls man-love queer.
Chorus 1.
Chorus 2:
Old Adam’s children working without cease. When will they rest and find their release?
New Adam’s heart, filled with love, mirror of trust, shines with light from above.
New Adam’s heart, open book, tales of Aurora, writ for all who will look.
New Adam’s lips, born for yes, now fallen mute, seek your rising caress.
New Adam’s hands, gentle friends, shaped in old hate, turn life to new ends.
Chorus 1:
New Adam’s eyes, welcoming whys, New Adam’s skies, filled with children’s glad cries.
Chorus 3:
Zarathustra’s dawn is here, the lion and lamb together, Jerusalem, Millennium, the kingdom is come.
Old Adam’s you, Old Adam’s me, We’ll keep on killing till our children are free.
Children hold hands, why not we? Help me to wash Old Adam’s blood from my body.
Chorus 2.
Chorus 3.
Chorus 2 and 3 together.
