When to do it?
As I said, anytime, anywhere.
A few more possibilities:
1. Walking. Your own
footsteps are an excellent metronome. One syllable per step.
2. Waiting. Look for any
rhythmic visual cue around you. If you're in a crowded place where people are walking,
pick out one person and use her steps, and then another. Or listen for a audio cue. A
stimulating variant is to use non-regular cues. For example, in a park, let the random
birdcalls serve. A bluejay squawks and you say and extend one syllable until another jay
or a whatever speaks up.
3. Driving.
4. Jogging, obviously. I'd
suggest one syllable every two steps. Then for a variation, one every three steps, and so
one.
5. Going to sleep.
6. When you're bored.
7. Impatient (waiting for the
McDonald's clerk to straigthen out the order for the family of ten in line in front of
you).
8. Ill-at-ease (A party
you're at only as a favor to your spouse).
9. Really uncomfortable.

10. In pain. There's pain,
and then there's pain. It's worth trying, don't you think?
11. Doing yoga.
