Is this prayer?Not really. Prayer generally has very
specific, clearly stated goals. Youre asking for something ("Give us this day
our daily bread"), youre confessing or affirming something ("Thine is the
kingdom, the power, and the glory"), youre praising or giving thanks or
expressing adoration ("Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name").
And prayer assumes various things about a deity which are not involved here.
Saltlicks are closer to chanting, in that they involve the slow repetition of rhythmic
language. But here, of course, one is "chanting" alone and silently.
