For centuries, English has been borrowing words from other languages, and also creating
new words. Result: Lots of synonyms. Below on the left are 25 adjectives. On the right are
25 more adjectives. All you have to do is match the synonyms. To get you started, we've
given you the answers to the first two.
A Note to Improve Your English:
Words that are synonyms do NOT mean EXACTLY the same. For example, Word "a"
below ("analytical") and Word No. 19 ("rational") are synonyms, but
they are used differently, depnding on context. A good English dictionary will explain the
subtle differences in meaning between synonyms.
