Headache No. 4:
An angry Democract kidnapped Ralph Nader and showed him 2 groups of
pills. In each group were 8 pills. The Democrat said, "These pills look the same but
theyre not. Eight of them are a new drug which causes anyone who takes it to develop
a social conscience and become a Loyal Democrat. The other eight will cause you to become
boundlessly greedy and a True Republican." The Democract then showed Ralph Nader two
large boxes. "You must divide the 16 pills into these two boxes. My assistant will
then choose a box and draw one pill from that box. You must then swallow that pill."
Assuming that Ralph Nader would rather live as a Democrat than as a Republican, what
distribution of the pills will give him the best chance of doing so?
