Lost Worlds

Locked into the reality which our senses provide us with, and now blindered by the visual wonders of technology (in the biggest movies, special effects get billing above the title), we're suffering from atrophy of the imagination. Why imagine when all you have to do is drop in at the local 'plex and get a hit of other worlds real enough to make you b-e-l-i-e-v-e.

Remember "Reading Readiness" in pre-K and Kindergarten, those little find-the-hidden-animal exercises to get your mind ready to read? Two of Magellan's Loggers have teamed up to create a bit of "Imagining Readiness."

Here are 9 images of worlds which exist only in their minds, and now on your monitor, viewed as if from space. You can enjoy them at that "distance," but to really get the most out of these newly found planets, you should free your imagination from its media-bondage. Imagine yourself descending to the surface of these worlds, and exploring. Or living there...

We invite readers to respond. Write a story about what happens to you on one of these planets and send it to us.
