Those who despoil the
earth
Do not deserve the earth.
They’ll lose it soon enough.
How ignorant are they?
They don’t realize that
In killing the earth they’re
Killing themselves, or if not
Themselves, their children.
No matter, really. The trees
In their billions will die
In shame at what they see:
Old Adam and New, arm in arm,
Corrupt and infinitely corrupting,
Asuck and mindless still at the teat
Of a mother gone dry. Wah!
Overheard at a Denny's in Tallahassee, Florida:
George Bush is seated in the oval office one morning, reviewing the Iraq situation with
his generals. The door opens, an aide walks in... "Bad news I’m afraid ,Mr.
President. We have just had word that three Brazilian soldiers have been killed in
Iraq"
President Bush drops to his knees and puts his face in his hands and starts sobbing. All
the assembled generals can hear from the president is a mumbled "Oh my God, oh my
God...."
Eventually, Bush looks up to Dick Cheney through teary eyes and asks....."Exactly how
many is a brazillion,Dick?"
Some writers are
interested in the truth that fiction tells. I am more interested in the fiction that truth
tells.
Great truths ants have
no interest in except in so far as they briefly advance their immediate self-interest.
