Imagine that the Internet, along with digital cameras, existed back in the good old days of struggling artists making great art in the garrets of Paris, Rome, New York, etc.

Imagine further that, just as we have flickr.com and similar sites where struggling photographers can upload their pix for critiques from whoever happens to take a look, back in the day there was a site where painters striving to climb to the Olympian heights of art could upload shots of their work, hoping to find a bit of on-line encouragement.
