Yes, we are ants, and honored to be,
but something more as well. To see
that more is our life’s work, as much
as their to fetch and tunnel. Such
a range of tasks! Theirs, ours, and earth’s?
Just think of its tumutuous births
and countless offspring it must rear
to grow beyond the cosmic fear
we all share.
